    ABOUT ME:

    I am a qualified and experienced Relationship Counsellor and Individual Psychotherapist. My main work is therapy with couples but when this is not possible or is ill-advised (if there is violence for example) then I am not shy of working with each individual in a couple, or even only one person - there is a lot that can be achieved from exploring one person's (or each person's) experience separately. Often separate work is necessary as a preparation for later couple work.

    PROFESSIONAL ASSOCIATIONS

  • I am a member of the British Association for Counselling and Psychotherapy (BACP) and work to their professional and ethical standards. (Click here to read about these.)

  • I trained in Australia where I am an accredited member of The Professional Counselling Association of Tasmania (PCAT) itself an affiliated member of the Psychotherapy and Counselling Federation of Australia (PACFA).

  • I have more than 20 years experience in practice.

    My Psychotherapy qualification

    My first degree is in English and Philosophy (University of Stirling). My core qualification in this field is a Graduate Diploma in Couples Psychotherapy completed under the auspices of The University of New South Wales in Australia.

    And in Counselling:

    I have two Certificated Counselling qualifications also completed in Australia whilst working with a Relationship Counselling agency similar to Relate in the UK. In 2004 to 2006 I worked as a sessional counsellor at Relate.

    And my experience:

    I have conducted in excess of 15,000 sessions over the last 20 years with individuals and couples.

    For three years I worked as a counsellor with survivors of torture and war trauma in an agency providing psychological rehabilitation to refugees. I am accustomed to working in the most difficult of circumstances.

    HOW TO FIND ME

    I work in the Barbican area of Plymouth; and from my home in Durnford Street, Stonehouse,(Click here for map!), within walking distance of Plymouth city centre. Local buses pass the door(Citibus 34). There is also a free car park in Strand Street (near the Cremyll Ferry terminal).
